El teatro ” Bolshoi” es uno de los teatros más grandes y más importantes de la ópera y del balet en el mundo. Es posible visitarlo en compañía del guía en el marco de la visita guiada por MOSCÚ. Como comienzo de la historia del teatro se toma el año 1776 cuando el fiscal, príncipe Piotr Vasilievich Urusov recibió el permiso de la emperatriz Catalina II de ” tener las representaciones teatrales de diferente tipo y organizar los conciertos y fiestas de máscaras”.El príncipe empezó a construir el teatro que por la ubicación en la calle Petrovka ( a orillas del río Neglinka) recibió el nombre Petrovskiy. Sin embargo el teatro de Urusov ardió antes de su apertura y el príncipe entregó sus negocios a su socio, al empresario inglés Mickle Médox.
Precisamente Médox construyó el teatro Bolshoi Petrovskiy. El teatro Petrovskiy de Médox existió 25 años- en 1805 el edificio ardió.
En 1821 empezó la construcción de un nuevo edificio según el proyecto de Osip Bové y el director de la Academia de Mijailov de San Petersburgo. El 11 de marzo de 1853 el teatro ardió. Después del incendio se quedaron solo las paredes exteriores de piedra y las columnas de la entrada principal. En tres años el teatro fue restaurado por el proyecto del arquitecto Kavos. En la fachada fue colocada la escultura de Pedro Klodt en la que Apolo, el diós de las artes, se dirige al estreno de una ópera nueva. El teatro se abrió de nuevo el 20 de agosto de 1856.
La sala de cinco plantas del teatro tiene fama de una acústica perfecta donde caben hasta 2150 personas. La sala está decorada por las molduras doradas y terciopelo rojo con eso adquiere una solemnidad y suntuosidad.
El papel importante en la historia del teatro jugaron las representaciones de la ópera y del balet con la música de Piotr Chaikovskiy, entre ello -“‘Eugenio Oneguin”, ” la Dama de Picas”, ” Iolanta”, ” el Lago de los Cisnes”, ” la bella durmiente”. Con el nombre del teatro Bolshoi están relacionados los nombres de las personalidades del mundo de arte como Anton Rubinshtein, Piotr Chaikovskiy, Serguey Rajmáninov, Fiodr Shaliapin, Galina Ulánova, Maya Plisetskaya y otros.
La orquesta del teatro Bolshoy se concidera como la mejor orquesta del mundo. Hoy en su repertorio se encuentran las representaciones de la ópera y del balet interpretados por los mejores maestros del arte.
El 29 de Noviembre del año 2002 se abrió el nuevo escenario del teatro Bolshoi con el estreno de la ópera de Rimskiy-Kórsakov “Snegúrochka”.
