Si preguntamos a cualquier turista extrangero que acaba de llegar a Moscú qué es lo que le gustaría ver además de la Plaza Roja, en la mayoría de los casos oiríamos la respuesta : ” El Mausoleo”.
Casi todos los que decidieron visitar el Kremlin de Moscú verían este edificio.
La historia del Mausoleo es la siguiente:
Vladimir Ilyích Ulianov-Lenin murió el 21 de enero de 1924 de una enfermedad contínua. La versión oficial de la muerte es la aterosclerosis de las venas y como consecuencia la hemorragia cerebral. Sin embargo no todos los médicos se pusieron de acuerdo con esta diagnosis y hasta ahora los científicos destacan varias versiones de la causa aunténtica de la muerte de Lenin. En tres días antes del funeral de Lenin en la Plaza Roja construyeron una construcción especial de madera: una pirámida acortada parecida a los zigurates antiguos – las construcciones ocultas de Vavilonia antigua. La pirámida tenía la forma de escalones y fue planeada así para dejar pasar a mucha gente por dentro que bajaran al panteón. La sala fue revestida por el material color negro y rojo. «Ofrecí una inscripción muy simple en el Mausoleo – solo una palabra que está llena de un sentido muy profundo e inquietante para cualquier trabajador del mundo. Esta palabra es Lenin”. – escribía en sus notas el arquitecto Shúsev. En los tiempos soviéticos los tours a Rusia estaban indisolublemente ligados con el comunismo y el jefe del proletariado. El primer mausoleo construido rápido existió unos meses. En primavera del año 1924 a Shúsev le ordenaron dar al edificio las formas más acabadas. Así el Mausoleo fue convertido en un monumento piramidal y tribuna a la vez. El segundo proyecto del edificio era de madera también, bañada en laca. Alrededor de la construcción apareció la cerca y los macizos de flores. En este Mausoleo el cuerpo de Lenin estuvo durante cinco años.
Cuando el Mausoleo de madera empezó a pudrirse, fue decidido reemplazarlo por uno de piedra. Como este lugar ya se convirtió en uno sagrado, fue resolvido dejar la misma arquitectura cambiando solo el material. Para la construcción fue traída la mejor piedra de las repúblicas aliadas: roja, gris y la labradorita negra, el pórfido rojo de Carelia y diferentes especies de granito. El ataúd fue hecho de cristal y fue colocado dentro del sarcófago especial de cristal. Debajo del ataúd se encuentra una baldosa de labradorita de peso de 20 toneladas. La inscripción “Lenin” en la fachada del Mausoleo está hecha del cuarcito rojo. La longitud del Mausoleo son 24 metros, la altura-12 metros.
El cuerpo de Lenin lo embalzaman desde el año 1924 según el método único de los científicos soviéticos V.P.Vorobiov y B.I.Sbarskiy. Por la conservación de la momia están responsables los colaboradores del instituto especial y la conservación del cerebro se encuentra en la competencia del Instituto de Cerebro.
Dos veces a la semana 12 científicos analizan el cuerpo y una vez en un año y medio sumergen la momia en una pila con un líquido especial. Los cambios los analizan los aparatos especiales.
Cuando en 1953 murió J.V.Stalin su cuerpo fue embalsamado también y colocado al Mausoleo al lado del cuerpo de Lenin. Pero la momia estuvo allí unos años: depués de la crítica de la política de Stalin, el cuerpo fue enterrado al lado de la muralla del Kremlin.
